Interior Design Department Hosts Designer Dima Hijab for a Workshop on "3D Printing on Textile and Biomaterial"
The Interior Design Department at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, hosted designer Dima Hijab, a student and researcher at the Textile Academy within the Makerspace, for a workshop titled "3D Printing on Textile and Biomaterial" on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The workshop was part of the Furniture Design and Accessories course, supervised by Dr. Dana Amro and administrative member Mohammad Khaleel.
The workshop included a theoretical presentation on the designer's experience in creating environmentally friendly materials from biomaterials, showcasing some of the materials produced in the Makerspace. Additionally, a visit was made to the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab at the Faculty of Engineering, where the use of 3D printing on fabrics was explained.
The importance of the workshop lay in introducing students to different, innovative, and sustainable materials and methods used in furniture design and manufacturing, encouraging creativity, innovation, and out-of-the-box thinking.
