Innovation and Excellence Center and Business Incubator at AAU Participate in Workshop on Intellectual Property Policies

Al-Ahliyya Amman University took part in a specialized workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund. The workshop, titled "Policies and Regulations of Intellectual Property Rights at the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund as a Model to Promote IP Practices in Higher Education Institutions," was held at the University of Jordan and attended by a number of experts and specialists in the field. The university was represented by Dr. Omar Abdeljaber, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center; Dr. Ahmad Al-Damour, Director of the Capacity Building and Awareness Unit; and Ms. Raya Al-Sharif, Director of the Business Incubator. Participants emphasized the importance of the workshop in supporting and enhancing an innovation-friendly research environment that adheres to legal protection of intellectual property rights. They noted that spreading a culture of IP protection is a key pillar in strengthening the competitiveness of higher education institutions and aligning research outputs with national development priorities—objectives that are in line with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, which serves as a roadmap for the country’s future. Participants also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in enhancing the legislative and knowledge-based infrastructure for scientific research in Jordan. They affirmed that intellectual property rights protection is a cornerstone for building a knowledge-based economy and for driving higher education institutions toward higher levels of scientific productivity and practical innovation.
