Hourani: Declining educational outputs places heavy burden on the universities

Dr. Maher Al-Hourani believes that the quality of higher education in Jordan, despite its leadership in the region, saw a significant decline for many reasons, most notably the instability and continued change of legislation and laws in the field of higher education, as well as limited university independency. In an interview with the Youth section of Al-Rai Newspaper, Hourani goes on to say that the main decline lies in education outcomes in the last ten years. “There is decline in the basic education system due to the lack of proper plans for the advancement of the education sector and the failure to adopt international programs (sat. IB. IG) from the first years, in addition to the quality, qualifications, and training of instructors”. This affects the quality of education in public and private universities. “This has placed a heavy burden to reconsider the teaching methods adopted in the first year. Enhancement courses are delivered to students in certain courses”.
