Graduation of the third class of Friends of Police course at Al-Ahliyya Amman University

HE Police Director of Balqa Governorate, Colonel Tariq Habashna, sponsored the graduation ceremony of the third class of Friends of Police course for a number of the University staff and students. The ceremony was held on Monday, 6/4/2015, in the presence of President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hamed. Dr. Hamed gave a speech during which he stressed the importance of holding such courses which help educate everyone about police duties and the works assigned to them and promote cooperation between citizens and police officers for the benefit of our country, for which the Hashemites sacrificed their lives to be an oasis of security and stability. In his speech, Prof. Hamed underlined the importance of building bridges of communication and affection between security officers and citizens to support them in cleansing our society from all forms of crimes and adverse phenomena. He added that this course is the culmination of cooperation between the University and the Directorate of Balqa Police. It aims to promote security awareness among the participants in view of the need to sensitize the community members about maintaining the security and stability of the country, as well as educate the participants on policing issues and introduce the concept of community-based police, he added. At the end, Prof. Hamed thanked the Police Director for his cooperation towards the success of this course and stressed that similar courses should be held in the future.The Friends of Police course, which lasted for one week, addressed a range of topics, namely drug issues. A play entitled “Drug Poison” was performed, which dealt with the negative effects of drugs and methods of prevention. The play also addressed takfiri thought, the fight against terrorism and domestic violence. At the end of the ceremony, the Police Director and the President of the University presented the certificates to the participants.
