Free Medical Day for Local Community at Al-Ahliyya Amman University

The Supreme Committee for Community Service and Activities at Al-Ahliyya Amman University held on Thursday, 09.05.2013, a free medical day for the local community under the auspices of President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, under the supervision of Director of Medical Services, Dr Awni Shanableh, in collaboration with Luqman AL-Hakim Schools. The University hosted a number of doctors of various specialties as well as specialized medical laboratories to conduct various tests including blood sugar and hemoglobin tests. The University also hosted the National Blood Bank for blood donation purpose. Various drug warehouses offered drugs, medical products and cosmetics. Speaking to A One TV Channel, Prof. Dr. Hamed said that the medical day is just a continuation of the community service events for this year. The University provides community service through its activities and services offered by the centers available in the University, including the Hearing and Speech Centre which receives humanitarian cases, offers services free of charge, and manufactures hearing aids and ear molds under the supervision of specialized professors. The activities of the medical day urge students to participate in voluntary work and community service in view of the surrounding community need for such events. HE highlighted students active participation in community service, including orphanages, childrens cancer center and nursing homes. At the end of the open day, the President of the University, Dr. Sadeq Hamed, presented certificates to all participants in the free medical day.
