Former Minister of Youth and Sports Lectures at Al-Ahliyya Amman University
Upon the invitation of the Arts and Sciences Faculty at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, H.E. - Sa'eed Shaqam - the former Minister of Youth and Sports, gave a lecture titled “Jordan Sports, Reality and Aspirations”, where he touched upon the reality of sports in Jordan and the different activities of sport clubs and unions at all levels as well as their achievements at various levels. In addition, he addressed the international participation in the national teams of football and basketball and at the international and Asian levels, in order to strengthen sports in Jordan as a privileged field for youth and to show their creativity. During his lecture, he also addressed the reality of the Jordanian Olympic Committee, which is considered supportive to unions and achievements, noting that the measures with a view to the advancement of the sports are not suitable and require further review. He also addressed the role of the Supreme Council for Youth in the support, development, and promotion of sports movement indicating its huge duties and responsibilities, adding that strategies to maintain what has been achieved and build must be developed. At the end of the lecture, the Minister answered questions by the students; then he was granted the University Shield as recognition of his contributions to the development of sport in Jordan. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Arts Faculty - Dr. Basma Al-Shareef -, the faculty staff, and many students.
