Former Minister of Foreign Affairs & Member of the Senate H.E. Nasser Joudeh Concludes the Model United Nations for Al-Ahliyya Amman University Students

Organized by the University's Global Liaison Center, the Model United Nations (MUN) Conference was concluded on Sunday, 22 May, 2022, under the auspices of His Excellency Mr. Nasser Joudeh, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and in the presence of a group of Parliament Members from Al-Balqa Governorate, namely, Mr. Dirar Al-Dawood, Mr. Abdul Halim Al-Hmoud and Ms. Dina Al-Bashir.The President of the University Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan and The Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Maher Al Hourani received H.E. Mr. Nasser Joudeh in the presence of the Assistant President for Foreign Affairs Professor Dr. Anas Al Saud.H.E. Mr. Joudeh spoke to university students participating in the conference, which lasted for three consecutive days, about Jordan's role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in drafting resolutions and putting forward initiatives concerning the region and the world.He also demonstrated the quality of Jordan's diplomatic efforts in the Security Council and various United Nations councils, particularly during the three periods during which Jordan was elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.H.E. Nasser Joudeh answered a number of student questions and encouraged them to engage in these events and activities and participate in all Arab and international forums, especially since Jordan, led by diplomacy and the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II, has gained great global respect, opening the door to Jordanian initiatives.The event was organized by the University's Global Engagement Centre as part of its objectives, which seek to hone students' skills in learning about international cultures, activities and issues.This conference is a simulation of actual UN conferences, where students are tasked with resolving global issues by researching, drafting resolutions, convincing and discussing to pass appropriate resolutions to the global issues at hand. Students take on the roles of commissioners, speakers and chairs representing different countries and work together to hold discussions and find realistic solutions to their agenda.The agendas or topics being worked on during the Conference reflect real-world issues being discussed at the United Nations.Student Jude Luai Haddad, who played the role of Secretary-General of the United Nations, introduced her colleagues as chairmen of the committees, who in turn briefed on the most important things that took place during their conference, and the winning delegations were then honored with the best delegation awards.At the end of the meeting, the President of the University and the President of the Board of Directors honored the university's guest, H.E. Nasser Joudeh with the university shield.
