Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Ahliyya Amman University Participates in The Launch of The Regional Center of Excellence for Pharmacists in Jordan
The Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Ahliyya Amman University participated in the preliminary meeting to launch the Regional Center of Excellence for Pharmacists in Jordan (FIP-EMR Pharm CoE), held as part of the first specialized forum for young pharmacists in Amman.
The faculty was represented by the Dean, Dr. Arwa Al-Khateeb, the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, Dr. Ali Al-Sumida’i, the Assistant Dean for Training, Dr. Anas Abed, and faculty member Dr. Ali Abu Halimeh, along with a group of students and graduates totaling 20 participants.
The event was organized by the Jordan Pharmacists Association (JPA), in partnership with UNESCO and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), and arranged by Dr. Mandala. It also included representatives from FIP’s Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, headed by Dr. Wael Ali, as well as deans of pharmacy faculties and representatives from public and private universities, and stakeholders from the health and private sectors in Jordan and several Arab countries, including Egypt, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon.
During the sessions, participants emphasized the importance of launching the Regional Center of Excellence for Pharmacists and its role in supporting the development of pharmacy education and scientific research, and in strengthening the integration between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This, they noted, will help prepare qualified pharmacists capable of keeping pace with global advancements in pharmacy education and practice. The Dean of the Faculty also took part in the opening session, titled “Linking Education and Training,” as well as the closing press conference, affirming Jordan’s pioneering role in embracing initiatives that advance the pharmacy profession locally and regionally.
AAU’s participation aligns with its strategic vision to harmonize academic outputs with the needs of local and regional labor markets, and with its ongoing efforts to develop academic and professional programs that keep pace with the requirements of the era and the directions of the knowledge economy. This vision is exemplified by the establishment of the University’s College of Technology, which aims to prepare qualified cadres in modern technical fields, thereby enhancing graduates’ efficiency and competitiveness in the job market.
At the conclusion of the event, participants were honored in recognition of their efforts to advance the development of the pharmacy profession and to strengthen integration between academic and professional institutions in Jordan and the region, coinciding with the launch of the national project to implement modern pharmaceutical specialties in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
