Faculty of Nursing at AAU Holds Welcome and Orientation Session for New Students – The Second Semester 2024–2025

The Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University held a welcome and orientation session for new students enrolled in the Second Semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. The event took place at Al-Hourani Auditorium and was attended by a large number of new students, in addition to department chairs, faculty, and administrative staff. Dr. Omar Al-Zyoud, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, welcoming the new cohort and wishing them a successful academic journey. He also highlighted the faculty’s achievements on both local and international levels and introduced the university’s vision, mission, and core values. The session aimed to support students in smoothly integrating into university life and establishing strong connections with faculty staff. University guidelines related to student rights, responsibilities, and academic regulations were presented. Department heads, Dr. Manal Al-Satari and Dr. Muhannad Al-Daqs, introduced the nursing programs, study plans, expected learning outcomes, and the importance of academic advising and consistent communication with advisors. They emphasized the students’ role in achieving excellence in their programs and stressed the importance of attending lectures and adhering to exam schedules. The Assistant Dean for Practical Training also briefed the students on the clinical training procedures and expectations in various healthcare settings. Prof. Khaldoun Hamdan, Director of the AAU Health Training Center, presented the center’s services and ongoing workshops, encouraging students to participate and share suggestions for training sessions that address their specific needs. The event also featured presentations by Dr. Fidaa Abu Al-Khair, Director of the AAU Mental Health Center, and Zeina Abu Al-Samen, Director of the Career Guidance and Alumni Office. They introduced the support services available to students, including mental health resources and career planning. Dr. Kholoud Batarseh emphasized the importance of community service, encouraging students to participate in university- and faculty-level activities, noting that community service hours are a graduation requirement. The session concluded with an open Q&A segment, where students were able to ask questions and engage directly with faculty members, who affirmed their readiness to provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the students’ academic journey.
