Faculty of Agricultural Technology Participates in Workshop on "The Reality and Future of University Agricultural Education" at the Agricultural Engineers Association

The Jordanian Agricultural Engineers Association, in collaboration with the Agricultural Sector Skills Council, organized a specialized workshop titled "The Reality and Future of University Agricultural Education" on Monday, May 21, 2024. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop was inaugurated with presentations by His Excellency Engineer Ali Abu Nuqta, President of the Agricultural Engineers Association and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, and His Excellency Professor Dr. Rida Shibli. Our AAU was represented by Dr. Subhiyya Saifan, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, who chaired the second session titled "Practical Training and its Alignment with Market Needs: Preparing Graduates and Facilitating their Entry into the Job Market." The workshop concluded with important recommendations aimed at enhancing the competencies of graduates from agricultural faculties in Jordanian universities and equipping them with the exceptional skills needed to enter the job market. Key recommendations included: - Establishing a national project system for training agricultural engineers to practice the profession, in collaboration with the Agricultural Engineers Association. - Implementing restrictions on bridging programs to bachelor's degrees in agriculture. - Inviting deans of agricultural faculties to participate in specialized meetings to discuss curricula and practical training. It is worth noting that the Faculty of Agricultural Technology is preparing a memorandum of understanding with the Agricultural Engineers Association, which is represented on the advisory board of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at AAU.
