Dr. Maher Al-Hourani Patrons the Second Day Celebration of Al Ahliyya Amman University's 30th Batch Graduation

Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Al Ahliyya Amman University and Chairman of the Board of Directors, patronized the university's second-day celebration of the graduation of its 30th batch. The graduates included students from the faculties of Graduate Studies, Arts and Sciences, Law, Business, Information Technology, and Educational Sciences. The ceremony was attended by the University President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, and the Vice Presidents, Prof. Musleh Al-Tarawnah and Prof. Anas Al-Saoud, as well as the Assistant to the President for Administrative and Institutional Development, Dr. Iyad Sha'ban, deans, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of the graduates' families and guests. The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran by the graduate, Yazan Ibrahim Hussein Abu Hamdeh, from the Faculty of Business. Then, Dr. Mustafa Atiyat, the Dean of Student Affairs, delivered a speech in which he welcomed Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Vice President of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Prof. Sari Hamdan, the University President, as well as all members of the Board of Trustees, deans, faculty, and administrative staff. He also extended his welcome to the guests, attendees, and graduates, expressing the university's commitment to preparing students academically, culturally, and socially, while providing them with opportunities to excel and achieve self-realization through its academic programs. He emphasized that the university has been distinguished among Jordanian universities since its establishment over thirty years ago as the first private university in Jordan, founded by the late Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani. He described the university as a beacon of knowledge and a center for cultural radiation, reiterating its dedication to serving the nation and becoming a globally recognized smart university that fosters sustainable knowledge and supports innovation. Dr. Atiyat also thanked Prof. Anas Al-Saoud, the Vice President for International Relations and Quality Assurance and the person responsible for rankings, for his outstanding efforts in achieving this great accomplishment. Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, in his address, expressed the university's pride in its deserving entry among the top thousand universities globally according to the QS World University Rankings. He highlighted the university's ranking at 801-850 worldwide and its achievement of the first rank among private universities in Jordan and the third rank among all Jordanian universities, following the University of Jordan and the Jordan University of Science and Technology. He reiterated that this achievement required dedicated collective efforts under a well-structured plan monitored by an exceptional leadership and administrative team. Dr. Al-Hourani praised the joyous occasion, which coincided with the start of the university's celebrations for the graduation of its thirtieth batch of students. He further emphasized the university's commitment to maintaining excellence, creativity, and academic development, including the quality of faculty and administrative staff. The university has set plans for enhancing institutional performance, improving the quality of education, promoting scientific research, and engaging with the local community to foster a vision of becoming a global smart university that supports sustainable knowledge and innovation. Furthermore, the university has introduced new specialties at the undergraduate and master's levels. The university has obtained approval for establishing a dental college, and the preparations for the necessary medical and technical equipment are underway to ensure it is on par with leading colleges in this field. Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Ahliyya Amman University and President of the University's Board of Directors, presided over the university's second-day celebration of the graduation of its 30th batch of students. The ceremony took place on the evening of July 22, 2023, and included the graduation of students from various faculties, including Graduate Studies, Arts and Sciences, Law, Business, Information Technology, and Educational Sciences. The event was attended by the University's President, Dr. Sari Hamdan, Vice Presidents Dr. Musleh Al-Tarawneh and Dr. Anas Al-Saud, as well as Dr. Iyad Shaaban, Assistant to the President for Administrative and Institutional Development, deans, faculty members, administrative staff, and a large number of graduates and guests. The ceremony began with the royal anthem followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the graduating student Yazan Ibrahim Hussein Abu Hamdeh from the College of Business. Then, Dr. Mustafa Atiyat, the Dean of Student Affairs, delivered a speech welcoming Dr. Maher Al-Hourani and Dr. Sari Hamdan, along with members of the Board of Trustees, deans, faculty, staff, guests, and graduates. Dr. Atiyat expressed pride in Al Ahliyya Amman University's continued commitment to preparing well-rounded students, emphasizing academic, cultural, and social development, and providing opportunities for them to excel and contribute to society. He highlighted the university's leading role among Jordanian universities, being the first private university in Jordan, and its significant progress over the past thirty-three years since its establishment by the late founder, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hourani. The university aims to be a beacon of knowledge and a center of civilizational radiance, and it will continue to be a university of the nation, knowledge, and excellence. He further mentioned the recent global recognition received by the university, ranking among the top 1000 universities worldwide according to the QS World University Rankings 801-850. A Al Ahliyya Amman University attained the first place among Jordanian private universities and the third place among all Jordanian universities, including public ones like the University of Jordan and Jordan University of Science and Technology. This achievement came as a result of collective efforts, guided by a well-thought-out plan led by distinguished leaders and administrators, supported by Dr. Maher Al-Hourani and Dr. Sari Hamdan, along with the entire faculty and staff. In addition to the College of Dentistry, the university also established new undergraduate programs in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts, and Agricultural Technology. It introduced specializations in E-Marketing and Digital Communication, Financial Technology, Business Analytics in the College of Business, and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in the College of Engineering. The College of Allied Medical Sciences also introduced specializations in Physiotherapy and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Moreover, at the postgraduate level, the university introduced Master's programs in Communication Disorders, Audiology, Biomedical Engineering, Sports Science, and Nursing Science. During the ceremony, the graduating student Hamza Jihad Saleh Al-Qudah from the Graduate Studies College, majoring in Cybersecurity, delivered a speech. He praised the value of knowledge and scholars in the eyes of the Almighty, welcoming Dr. Maher Al-Hourani as a successor to his late father, the founder, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hourani. The ceremony also included a tribute to the sports champions among the graduates who achieved remarkable victories in international competitions, particularly in Taekwondo. Dr. Maher Al-Hourani honored Saleh Salah Saleh Al-Sharbati, who ranked second in the world in the under-80 kg category and won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, along with two gold medals in the Grand Prix tournaments for the top 32 players in the world, as well as a gold medal in the Asian Championship. He also honored Zaid Mohammad Fawaz Abdelrahim Al-Halawani, who ranked fourth in the world in the under-63 kg category and achieved a bronze medal in the World Championships for men, a silver medal in the Asian Championships for men and juniors, and two Arab championships, along with winning the Jordanian Universities Championship in 2019 and 2022. The ceremony concluded with Dr. Maher Al-Hourani presenting the graduates with their certificates and giving appreciation awards to the outstanding students.
