Department of Optometry at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and its counterpart at Al Razi University discuss cooperation, coordination

Dr. Yazan Qumwa, head of the Optometry Department at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and his counterpart at Al Razi University in Yemen, Dr. Tareq Du’eis, held a meeting through Zoom platform on Thursday, 09/09/2021, during which they discussed and coordinated joint cooperation between the departments at the two universities. The meeting also included discussion and comparison of the study plans of both departments to identify aspects of similarities and differences in their curricula. They also agreed to hold an extended meeting to discuss all aspects that would improve the relationship and twinning between the two sides. The Optometry program at Al-Ahliyya Amman University is distinguished for being the first and only program in private universities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The department has been created as one of the departments of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in 2015. It awards a bachelor's degree in the specialty of Optometry, offering 132 credit hours distributed over four academic years. The founding of the Department of Optometry was aimed at allowing its graduates to work in optics centers, ophthalmology, and vision correction centers, as well as eye clinics in hospitals.
