Concluding the Late Al-Hourani Award for Reciting the Holy Quran Held within the AAU Centennial Celebrations of the Kingdom
The late Dr. Ahmed Al-Hourani's fourth award activities for reciting and mastering the Holy Quran for male and female students at Jordanian university were concluded. These events which were held on Sunday, 24/1/2021 via the Microsoft Teams platform, came within Al-Ahliyya Amman University centennial celebrations of the founding of the Jordanian State. 28 male and 23 female students, representing 18 Jordanian public and private universities, have participated in the fourth edition of this award this year. These universities are as follows: (the Arab Open University - Al-Albayt University – Al-Balqa Applied University - Al-Hussein Bin Talal University - Zarqa University - The World Islamic Sciences University – the University of Applied Sciences - Jerash University - Mutah University - Irbid National University – the University of Petra - Al-Hussein Technical University - Ajloun National University - The Hashemite University – the University of Jordan - Yarmouk University – the Amman Arab University – Al-Ahliyya Amman University).The general supervisor of the competition, Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Kurdi announced the final results as follows:- In the male students’ competition: Muhammad Rayan from Al Albayt University ranked first, Ismail Al-Qadi from the University of Applied Sciences ranked second and Ahmed Luqman from the World Islamic Sciences University ranked third.- In the female students’ competition: Efat Al-Nisaa Bint Abdul Halim from the World Islamic Sciences University ranked first, Shamsia Mousa from the University of Applied Sciences ranked second, and Maysoon Abu Hamra from the Amman Arab University ranked third. It is noteworthy to mention that a jury of specialists was formed to oversee the activities of the award. They are as follows:- The jury for the male students comprised Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Kurdi / Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Dr. Mutassim Billah Dabash / instructor of the Holy Quran interpretation (Tafsir) at the University of Applied Sciences and the reciter of Jordan in its first version.- The jury for the female students comprised Dr. Asmaa Al-Omari \ Al-Ahliyya Amman University and Dr. Huda Qaraqish / specialized in the sciences of the Holy Qur’an and its recitations. Later on, a ceremony will be held under the auspices of the AAU President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, to honor the first three students, where cash prizes are distributed to them. It is worth noting that the first place prize is (500) dinars, the second place is (300) dinars, and the third place is (150) dinars.
