Amman Al Ahliyya University Ranks 28th Globally and 1st in Jordan and the Arab World in Times Higher Education Sustainability Rankings 2026

Amman Al Ahliyya University has achieved a remarkable global milestone by ranking 28th worldwide among 1,603 higher education institutions from around the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026. This accomplishment follows the university’s recent success in leading Jordanian private universities with its distinguished performance in the QS World University Rankings, where it was ranked 643rd globally. The sustainability results represent one of the most significant advances in the university’s history within this ranking, placing Amman Al Ahliyya University among the world’s top thirty institutions and reaffirming its leadership in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at both the national and international levels. The university’s most notable achievement was securing first place in Jordan and the Arab world in the overall ranking, in addition to attaining third place globally for Quality Education (SDG 4). The university also achieved outstanding results in several other Sustainable Development Goals, including 7th globally for Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), 11th globally for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16), and 19th globally for Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated: "This accomplishment is the result of a firmly established institutional vision that has guided the university since its founding. We have always believed that true excellence is measured not only by positions in rankings, but by the impact we create within our community and our contribution to sustainable development in Jordan and the wider region." Dr. Al-Hourani further noted: "While we take great pride in this distinguished achievement, we view it as a responsibility as much as an honor. It motivates us to intensify our efforts, build on what has been achieved, and continue supporting initiatives that advance sustainable development goals while strengthening the university’s position as a beacon of knowledge and service in Jordan and the Arab world." For his part, Professor Sari Hamdan, President of the University, expressed pride in the university’s performance, particularly in the area of quality education: "We are especially proud that Quality Education stands at the forefront of our achievements, with the university ranking third globally in this category. This distinction reflects the essence of our academic mission: preparing highly qualified graduates and responsible citizens."
