Amman Ahliyya University Hosts the 13th National Technology Parade with Broad Participation from Jordanian Universities

Amman Ahliyya University recently hosted the 13th National Technology Parade (NTP13), one of Jordan's leading national events dedicated to technology and innovation. The event brought together wide participation from Jordanian universities and organizations supporting the technology sector. The program featured an exhibition of entrepreneurial projects, specialized panel discussions, innovation competitions, and a closing ceremony honoring partners and sponsors while announcing the winning projects. The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Ahmad Hamdan, Acting President of Amman Ahliyya University; Professor Bashar Al-Tarawneh, Vice President of the University and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; several deans, faculty and administrative staff members; and a large number of students from Jordanian universities. Also in attendance were Professor Ghaith Abanda, Chair of the Steering Committee of the 13th National Technology Parade, and Dr. Mousa Al-Akhras, Chair of the IEEE Jordan Section. In his opening remarks, Professor Ahmad Hamdan emphasized that hosting the National Technology Parade reflects the University's commitment to fostering innovation and creativity by providing an academic environment that empowers students to transform their ideas into practical projects that serve society and address future challenges. He added that Amman Ahliyya University continues to enhance its academic programs and introduce specialized disciplines in engineering and technology, equipping graduates with the skills needed to compete locally, regionally, and internationally while reinforcing the University's role as an active partner in advancing innovation and sustainable development. Professor Bashar Al-Tarawneh expressed the University's pride in hosting the national event, describing it as a reflection of Amman Ahliyya University's leadership in supporting innovation and scientific research. He noted that the festival provides a valuable platform where students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts can exchange ideas, showcase innovative technological projects, and strengthen collaboration in response to the demands of digital transformation and the evolving labor market. Professor Ghaith Abanda, Chair of the Steering Committee, described the festival as an annual national gathering that brings together talented young minds, creative innovators, academics, and professionals in an environment dedicated to innovation and healthy competition for the benefit of society. He noted that since its launch in 2008, the National Technology Parade has continued to rotate among Jordanian universities, promoting the message that students are not merely recipients of knowledge but active contributors to innovation through developing solutions and transforming ideas into impactful projects and initiatives. He also acknowledged the strong partnership with the IEEE Jordan Section and praised the efforts of the organizing committees and volunteer judges whose contributions ensured the event's success. He encouraged students to make the most of the festival by expanding their knowledge, building professional networks, and exploring future opportunities. Dr. Mousa Al-Akhras, Chair of the IEEE Jordan Section, commended the partnership with Amman Ahliyya University in hosting the thirteenth edition of the festival, describing it as a leading national platform for showcasing technological innovation and strengthening collaboration among universities, industry, and professional organizations to help prepare the next generation of technology leaders in Jordan. Professor Jamal Al-Nabulsi, Chair of the Organizing Committee, attributed the success of the event to the collaborative efforts of Amman Ahliyya University, the IEEE Jordan Section, the steering and organizing committees, sponsors, and supporting organizations. He praised the University's outstanding support in delivering an event befitting its national significance. He added that the festival reflects the University's commitment to embracing creativity and innovation while providing Jordanian university students with an exceptional platform to present their projects and innovative ideas. The festival program included an exhibition of student projects and technological innovations, alongside panel discussions exploring the future of technology in financial technology (FinTech), healthcare, and green cities. Participants also attended a session titled "Beyond the Classroom: The Future of Startups and Corporate Success." The event concluded with the announcement of the winning projects and the recognition of partners, sponsors, and participants, reaffirming the festival's status as one of Jordan's foremost national platforms supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration between universities and the public and private sectors. The project competition featured ten major categories: Public Safety and Quality of Life, Education and E-Learning Technologies, Healthcare and Biomedical Technologies, Industrial Technologies, Financial Technology (FinTech), Business and Community Technologies, Innovation for People with Disabilities, Green and Sustainable Technologies, Games and Entertainment, and Defense and Security Technologies. Amman Ahliyya University achieved outstanding results at the festival, winning a total of eight awards. The University's students secured first place in five project categories and third place in three others, an accomplishment that reflects the high academic caliber of its students and underscores the success of the University's commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, scientific research, and technological excellence. This achievement further reinforces Amman Ahliyya University's position as one of Jordan's leading universities in engineering and technology.
