Al-Wazani inaugurates “Family Legal Protection: Reality vs. Ambition” Conference at Al-Ahliyya Amman University

His Excellency President of the Judicial Council, Ratib Al-Wazani, inaugurated the events of the scientific conference organized by the Faculty of Law at the University entitled “Family Legal Protection: Reality vs. Ambition” over two days. Al-Wazani delivered a speech at the beginning of the Conference in which he confirmed that the family is the most important pillar of the community. National legislation and international conventions are particularly concerned with the family unit and have granted it immunity. All religions have emphasized the importance of the family in human evolution and ensuring its continuity, he added. Al-Wazani pointed out that the legal systems have seen a remarkable development at the national level in terms of the rules governing the family unit. Vice President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, commended the efforts made by the concerned authorities and local bodies related to fostering the concept of legal protection of the family, which is reflected positively on individuals and society. Dr. Omar Borini, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, noted the need for Jordanian universities to carry out their role in this area. He praised the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Queen Rania in this respect and said that the King has paid special attention to family and children issues and to addressing violence against children and women in all its forms. Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, has seen continuous development and permanent efforts directed towards a better future for Jordan children and families in general, he added. Several working papers were discussed during the Conference, which were presented by participants from Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Tunisia, Iraq and Egypt.
