Al-Qanawati Participates in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Conference
Leila Al-Qanawati, a lecturer from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, participated in the ASHA Conference held in Seattle, USA, from December 4 to 8, 2024. She presented a research paper in collaboration with Professor Reem Khamis, Head of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Long Island University, Brooklyn, titled "Assessing Emotion Comprehension and Expression in Jordanian Arabic Speaking Children." The presentation was well-received by the attendees.
Additionally, Lecturer Al-Qanawati was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for a research poster she co-authored with colleagues Dr. Yazan Qamouh, Engineer Rama Al-Seer, and Riman Marzouqa from California State University, Fullerton. The poster, titled "Elevate Your Knowledge on the Correlation between Consanguinity and Hearing Loss: Retrospective Study in Jordan," was recognized as the best distinguished poster in the Global Issues category. This prestigious award, granted by the specialized committee, highlights exceptional work in professional education and scientific research categories. The project prominently featured the logos of Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences.
Participation in this conference provided a valuable opportunity to stay updated on the latest advancements in the field, network with international experts, and explore cutting-edge devices and techniques for treating communication disorders. The event also facilitated meetings with Arab doctoral students, who expressed enthusiasm for potential collaborative research endeavors.
