“Al-Nakba Day”: Everlasting hope and eternal memories
Under the auspices of Dr. Sadeq Hamed, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the University students commemorated Al-Nakba Day. During the celebration, the students stressed their right to return to Palestine. Over 67 years, Israel, which was built on the ruins of the people who were forced to abandon their land and whose homes were expropriated, sought to obliterate this right. Israel adhered to the motto: (Adults die and the young forget). However, over the years, the Palestinian people clung to their land and their sacred right based on their firm principles and rights and the national responsibility to defend their right. Al-Nakba Anniversary reminds us of the Zionists’ repeated attempts to erase the landmarks of the Palestinian existence before 1948 and falsify the facts of history and geography. It is the cry of freedom in the face of injustice and tyranny. No matter how hard the days and events will be, we will not give up our right to live in the spirit of freedom and dignity on our land and on our soil.AAU students commemorate this anniversary by setting up a comprehensive exhibition that address the memories of the Nakba and the martyrs who set the finest examples of sacrifice and defense of the soil of Palestine. The exhibition also reflects the suffering of our people on the Israeli checkpoints. AAU students condemn the consequences of this calamity, which has been accompanied with painful reality, diaspora and continued homelessness and suffering upon the Palestinian people for decades. This painful reality has left sad and painful effects over time but did not undermine the will and resolve of the Palestinian people to return to their homeland and stick to their fair and legitimate right to return, freedom and independence. The right to return to homeland is a sacred right no matter how long it takes to be realized and will not be compromised by anyone.
