Al-Ahliyya Amman University Welcomes a Delegation from ACEN for International Accreditation Evaluation of the Nursing School

As part of the preparations of the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University for obtaining international accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), aiming to achieve more quality and excellence, the University President, Professor Sari Hamdan, met with the ACEN delegation conducting their first evaluation visit. The delegation included Dr. Linda Neal Ard and Dr. Laura Polk. The meeting was attended by Professor Iman Al-Nazli, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Professor Montaha Al-Gharaibeh, ACEN file advisor, Dr. Rabiaa Al-Aleri, Vice Dean for Accreditation and Quality Affairs, Dr. Muna Al-Nsour, Director of the Women's Health Center at the Faculty of Nursing, and Dr. Feroz Abu Swaylam, Director of the University’s Global Liaison Center. This visit aimed to evaluate the Faculty of Nursing’s adherence to international accreditation standards and included a series of meetings and discussions. It began with a meeting with the Dean, her deputy, department heads, and administrative staff, followed by a meeting with the University President and Vice Presidents for academic, administrative affairs, and quality assurance. The visit also included separate meetings with faculty members and students from various stages and disciplines, as well as attendance at lectures and observation of the practical nursing procedures carried out by students in the Faculty's labs and practical training facilities in hospitals. During the visit, the evaluation covered the Nursing faculty's building, classrooms, laboratories, and practical training areas, in addition to the library and student affairs office. Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan emphasized the importance of obtaining international accreditation for various programs and disciplines, stating that it contributes to enhancing the quality of education, attracting distinguished students, facilitating graduate acceptance into graduate programs, and preparing them efficiently for the job market. Dr. Iman Al-Nazli confirmed that obtaining international accreditation will raise the Faculty of Nursing’s global ranking and enhance its scientific standing among nursing faculties in local, regional, and international universities, which will positively impact the quality of its graduates on all fronts. Dr. Linda Neal Ard noted that ACEN focuses on developing nursing education and practice through accreditation functions. She explained that accreditation improves the quality of institutions or educational programs in terms of invested resources, processes followed, and results achieved. She added that the goal of ACEN is to provide specialized accreditation for all levels of nursing education and transition programs to practice, both within the United States and internationally, ensuring that programs align with global standards and enhance their ability to achieve outstanding educational outcomes. At the end of the ACEN accreditation team's visit, the Faculty of Nursing at our AAU was nominated for international accreditation, with the possibility of retroactive accreditation from November 19, 2024, pending the fulfillment of all required accreditation standards.
