Al-Ahliyya Amman University Signs Agreement to Host the Secretariat of the Arab Integrity Education Network
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, President of the University, received in his office Mr. Frederick Kaltong, Executive Director of the Integrity Organization, where they discussed the issue of the Arab Integrity Education Network and signing an agreement by the University to embrace the Secretariat of the Network for the third year in a row. The President of the University spoke about the role of integrity in development and the need for integrity at this particular time, in addition to the challenges facing universities and higher education. For his part, Mr. Kaltong expressed his admiration for Al-Ahliyya Amman University and its facilities and his appreciation for its support for the efforts of the Arab Integrity Education Network. He stressed that universities, as the most important training and socialization institutions in most countries of the world, have duty to educate students on the concept of integrity. He pointed out that integrity education is a great opportunity for supporting governance reforms in the Arab world. Enabling the universities to provide integrity programs for students is the least activated but the most influential strategy in the fight against corruption, he noted. He added that there is need for adopting an integrity reform strategy through region-wide integrity education. He pointed out that integrity programs offer new and innovative solutions to deal with the intractable problems of corruption, and provide more efficient and flexible approach for integrity education. It offers programs that make verifiable difference in student efficiency and perspectives, he added. On the other hand, the President of the University stressed his commitment to start introducing curricula that incorporate integrity issue to students during the current academic year, in order to enable graduates to continue to work successfully in an environment in which competitors do not fear cheating, lying, theft and bribery.
