Al-Ahliyya Amman University’s Faculty of Nursing Holds a Training Course on “First Aid” for Al-Jami’a Schools’ Staff
As part of the initiatives adopted by the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in raising awareness and providing community services, the University’s Health Training Center, affiliated with the Faculty of Nursing, organized a free training course entitled “First Aid” for the staff of the First, Second, and Third Al-Jami’a Schools, with a total of 300 participants.
At the beginning of the course, Prof. Dr. Khaldoun Hamdan, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing / Director of the Center, welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of such training programs in enhancing health awareness and developing practical skills among teachers. He emphasized that the Health Training Center at Al-Ahliyya Amman University continues to organize a series of training and awareness programs targeting different segments of society, stemming from the university’s commitment to its social responsibility and its dedication to strengthening partnerships with various institutions.
The course was delivered by Dr. Manal Al-Sutri, Head of the Acute and Chronic Care Nursing Department, with the participation of Ms. Aseel Al-Sayyed and Ms. Rahaf Khaled. The course aimed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to deal with emergency cases and save lives until specialized medical assistance arrives.
The one-day course ran from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Nizar Qabbani Auditorium. Its agenda included theoretical topics such as: definition and principles of first aid, assessing the accident site and ensuring the safety of both rescuer and injured, managing bleeding and wounds, fractures, burns and stings, choking, fainting and loss of consciousness, poisoning, and heatstroke. The practical component included hands-on training using mannequins and supporting tools, covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants, fracture stabilization, and airway obstruction management.
At the conclusion, participants expressed their appreciation and admiration for this initiative, stressing the need for its continuation. Mrs. Nadia Al-Hourani, General Supervisor of the Al-Jami’a Schools, also extended her gratitude and appreciation to Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the Health Training Center for this initiative, which contributes to developing staff skills and improving the quality of health services.
