Al-Ahliyya Amman University Pharmacy Participates in the Forum on Modern Pharmacy Specializations for Young Jordanian Pharmacists

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, represented by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Arwa Al-Khatib, participated in the second Forum on Modern Pharmacy Specializations for Young Jordanian Pharmacists. The forum was held over three days in Amman under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bdour, with wide participation from pharmacy students and graduates from various Jordanian universities, in addition to academics, experts, and representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Jordanian Pharmacists Association, with active participation from the private sector as a strategic partner in developing the pharmaceutical sector. The forum concluded with a set of strategic recommendations reflecting the advanced professional awareness of young pharmacists and their commitment to actively contributing to the development of the pharmaceutical sector in the Kingdom. Participants called for the establishment of a national committee or advisory council to activate modern pharmacy specializations, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Pharmacists Association, universities, and relevant stakeholders. They emphasized the importance of accelerating the accreditation of pharmaceutical specializations in academic and clinical pathways and establishing clear professional frameworks for specialization progression according to recognized scientific standards. The forum also stressed the need to enhance integration between the public and private sectors, support student initiatives and youth associations within universities, and involve them in dialogue and decision-making processes. Additionally, participants called for the introduction of specialized professional diplomas in modern pharmacy fields through partnerships between universities, the Pharmacists Association, the Ministry of Health, and the private sector. Dr. Wael Ali, Regional Office President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)- Middle East, affirmed that young pharmacists in Jordan possess the awareness and ambition to be genuine partners in developing the healthcare system, stressing that activating modern specializations requires institutional partnerships based on clear and sustainable regulatory frameworks. Dr. Wasfi Al-Nawafleh, Deputy President of the Jordanian Pharmacists Association, stated that the Association has begun practical steps to support the implementation of modern pharmaceutical specializations, driven by its conviction that developing the profession is a national necessity that directly impacts the quality of healthcare. Dr. Arwa Al-Khatib, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, confirmed that the forum represents a successful model of integration between academic education and labor market requirements, and highlights the importance of partnerships with the public and private sectors to develop modern professional programs aligned with global standards. At the conclusion of the forum, participants emphasized the importance of moving from recommendations to practical implementation to build a clear national vision for the future of modern pharmacy in Jordan and strengthen the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system.
