Al-Ahliyya Amman University organizes workshops on Islamic Art Day
The Committee of Social and Extracurricular Activities in the Department of Architecture - Faculty of Architecture and Design at Al-Ahliyya Amman University organized a program of events to celebrate World Islamic Art Day, which was held over three days (22, 24, 27/11/2021). The program included the hosting of calligrapher Yasmine Al Zuhairi, who met with college students from all disciplines. During this meeting, the students participated in practical exercises in Arabic calligraphy.In addition to panel discussions, a distinguished group of specialists and practitioners of Islamic art and architecture was hosted. The session included Jordanian architect Ayman Zaiter, who delivered a lecture on The Vacuum Plot in the Architecture of Islamic Societies: The Case of Alhambra Palace, and The Kuwaiti calligrapher Jassim M’iraj, who presented a panel discussion entitled: “Reflections on Islamic Art between Thought and Practice,” along with a participation by the young architect Ahmed Gibran of the University of Waseda in Japan during which he gave a lecture on Housing architecture in Muslim societies between privacy and reduction
