Al-Ahliyya Amman University Organizes the First Festival for Culture and Arts
Under the patronage of Prof. Sadiq Hamid, the President of the University, Al-Ahliyya Amman University concluded the activities of the first semester for the academic year 2016-2017 by organizing its first Festival for Culture and Arts which included all Jordanian universities.In the festival which was organized by the Deanship of the Student Affairs, a large number of Arab communities in the University formed a mosaic panel of Arab heritage that included Jordan, Palestine, Yemen, Kuwait, Syria and Iraq. The festival comprised poetic competitions of the students’ creation along with traditional and popular ‘Dabka’ and dances. In the presence of more than four thousand students, the festival included a photo gallery, direct painting on stage, Arabic calligraphy, fashion show of traditional and folkloristic costumes and poetic contests During the festival, Dr. Majed Eseila, the Dean of Student Affairs, announced that Al-Ahliyya Amman University is “proud of the festival, which is the first to be held in Jordanian universities”. He added that “it was prepared and significantly implemented by the students themselves who presented magnificent pictures that reflected the cultures and national folklore of their countries”. He also noted that “this festival would be organized next year in cooperation with Jordanian universities and by the great support that Dr. Maher Al-Hurani, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Prof. Sadiq Hamid, the President of the University provide for the student activities and programs.”Then Zeid Al-Habib, the Iraqi singer sang a group of his songs which the audience greatly interacted with. At the end of the festival the President of the University honored the students who won in the poetic contest.
