Al-Ahliyya Amman University is organizing an awareness initiative for university students in collaboration with the General Security Directorate

Under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, the Deanship of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the General Security Directorate, represented by the Directorate of Media, Community Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration organized an awareness day initiative under the title “Combating the Drug Menace - Road Safety”, along with the Jordanian Traffic Institute and the Police Theater, where it took place on Monday December 19, 2022 at the Nizar Qabbani Auditorium. The initiative was attended by the Vice President for International Relations and Quality, Prof. Anas Al-Soud, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mustafa Attiyat, Director of the Community Police Department lieutenant Yazan Al-Najdawi along with lieutenant Rami Al-Ajarmeh from the Anti-Narcotic Department, Captain Motaz Al-Majali from the Jordanian Traffic Institute, Head of the Police Theater Captain Thamer Abu Annab as well as a huge crowd from faculty and administrative members. The event started with a moment of silence and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in memory of the nation's martyrs. It was followed by a speech from the university president, who emphasized the importance of organizing such activities annually during University Awareness Days. He explained that each year, diverse topics are chosen to be discussed that would add value to society and deserve to be highlighted in order to raise students' awareness of these urgent and important issues. At the end of his speech, honor shields were presented to the participating organizations. Moreover, the initiative included a lecture on the causes of road accidents and the negative behaviors exhibited by drivers, which can be the main cause of accidents. It also highlighted some measures that would be taken against drivers committing dangerous and life-risking violations. The lectures included various topics, which covered the role of media, and the Anti-Narcotic Department in raising awareness about the dangers of drug addiction, which destroys youth and their families, as well as it, emphasized individual and societal responsibilities in combating this menace. The Police Theater team presented an exceptional performance that portrayed real-life stories about families and society, capturing the audience's admiration. There was also an interactive exhibit by the Anti-Narcotic Department that educated attendees about different types of drugs, their harmful effects and their negative consequences. Additionally, brochures and informational booklets were distributed to raise awareness.
