Al-Ahliyya Amman University introduces Film, TV, and Theater Design Department

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, and in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Dr. Ali Abdullah, the Chairman of the Jordanian Artists Association, Mr. Hussein Khatib, and a group of prominent artists, the University celebrated launching Film, TV, and Theater Design Department. Dr. Firas Rimoni moderated the dialogue that focused on establishing real partnership between Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the cultural institutions in order to deliver optimum quality outputs by this Department, including designers of drama works and mass media programs. This Department was established in view of the need for this specialization in Jordan and the Arab world. It aims to produce cinograph, technique and montage designers, and introduce the latest methods in the environment configurations industry for theater and television shows and mass media programs.At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Sadeq Hamid welcomed the outstanding artists to Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the leading Arab private university, and announced opening the Film Design Department. Dr. Hamed pointed out that the University has the resolve and potentials necessary for the success of this Department. Arena Cultural Theatre, which is the largest in Jordan and is equipped with the most advanced supplies and latest technological cameras, will be utilized as theatre for this Department. Artist Hussein Al-Khatib commended the efforts made and announced opening the doors of the Association for students. He stressed that the Jordanian Artists Association will be the major supporter of the University and its creative and talented students. Dr. Jamal Ajjour presented an overview about the Film, TV, and Theater Design Department, including its vision, mission, objectives, strategies and the five knowledge themes adopted for this program. These themes include design skills and techniques, television, film and theatre arts, televised programs, design and drama theories, computer applications related to drama televised and programs, history and theories, in addition to a supplementary theme which allows graduates to study, along with the design discipline, directing, acting, filming, animation, music, writing, scenario, criticism, and all visual, literary and audio arts related to drama in general.Brilliant artists and figures participated in the meeting and made valuable interventions, including artist Mohammed Qabbani, artist Zuhair Nubani, artist Jamil Awad, artist Juliet Awad, Dr. Sobhi Sharqawi, Dr. Mohammed Ghawanmeh, artist Mohammed Dmour, Director of Theater and Arts Department, Director of the Theater Festival, artist Hatem Al-Syaed, Dr. Rami Haddad, Dr. Nabil Darras, and Dr. Mohamed Ghawanmeh. The contributions of the artists had a significant impact on the students and will help hone their talents and creativity.
