Al-Ahliyya Amman University Implements the “Young Water Ambassadors” Program to Promote Water Awareness Among School Students
In alignment with the Community Water Management Education Procedure and as part of its leading role in advancing awareness and sustainability, Al-Ahliyya Amman University implemented a special school-based awareness initiative titled “Young Water Ambassadors.” The program targeted school students across various age groups.
A team of AAU students, faculty members, and administrative staff visited participating schools and delivered interactive educational activities focused on the importance of clean water, sustainable water-use behaviors, and the protection of water resources both in schools and in daily life.
The program included simplified presentations and short workshops designed to help students understand sustainability concepts in an engaging and accessible way. It also incorporated hands-on activities that encouraged students to take on leadership roles within their schools as advocates for water conservation.
This initiative successfully inspired youth participation and strengthened their sense of environmental responsibility, helping to cultivate a generation of future sustainability leaders and advocates.
The University administration emphasized that the “Young Water Ambassadors” program is a core part of AAU’s mission to expand environmental education and enhance community engagement. It also aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, including:
• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
• SDG 4: Quality Education (through awareness, outreach, and experiential learning)
• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
