Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosts the Sixth Annual Iraqi Poetry Festival

Under the auspices of Prof. Sadeq Hamid, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and Prof. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa, Cultural Advisor at the Iraqi Embassy in Amman, the Iraqi community at the University organized the Sixth Annual Iraqi Poetry Festival at Nizar Qabbani auditorium. Prof. Sadeq Hamid welcomed the attendees and sent a message of love from Al-Ahliyya Amman University to Baghdad, the city of outstanding history and civilization. He noted that the University is pleased to receive the Iraqi community, who are distinguished for their ethics and knowledge and who are cared for and respected at all levels. He added that Jordan and Iraq have a common history and geographic depth. Iraq has always supported Jordan in different circumstances and by embracing the Iraqi students; Jordan is repaying part of this favor. He stressed that the University exerts its best efforts and dedicates its potentials to serve the students of various nationalities, especially the Iraqi students. Prof. Sadeq also thanked the Iraqi faculty members who offer their thoughts and knowledge to the University.Prof. Abdul Razak Al-Essa, the Iraqi cultural advisor, thanked the administration of Al-Ahliyya Amman University for this cultural festival. This activity is part of several activities, including literary and sports initiatives that reinforce the spirit of youth. He stressed the need to foster self-empowerment among students and attract youth energies to lead innovation and creativity and allow them to be the community leaders in the future.In his speech, Dr. Mohammad Al-Baldawi, representative of the Iraqi community at the University, expressed his pride in hosting this cultural forum for the sixth year in the presence of Iraqi poets and a large gathering of the students of the Iraqi community at the University. He noted that the University hosts the largest number of the Iraqi community in the various disciplines. The ceremony featured poetry recitations by the poet Hazim Gaber and Omar al-Bayati, and by the students Hussein Nur and Hasan Dhoush of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Mustafa Kubaisi of the Faculty of Architecture and Design. A personal exhibition for students Hanan Joda and Al-Hamad Omar was inaugurated during the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, the participant poets and media professionals of the Arab and Iraqi channels who covered the ceremony were honored.
