Al-Ahliyya Amman University Hosts Director-General of Gendarmerie Forces
The Director General of the Gendarmerie, Lieutenant General Tawfiq Tawalbeh said that: “The strategy of the gendarmerie puts the national interest above all other considerations in order to achieve the concept of comprehensive national security and sustainable development, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein”. In a lecture entitled “Gendarmerie Duties and Functions” delivered at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in the presence of Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, President of the University, faculty members, administrative staff and a large gathering of students, Lieutenant General Tawalbeh addressed the historical development of the gendarmerie, which was formed in the era of the Emirate and evolved to be the core of public security until its reformation. The Director General of the Gendarmerie underscored the mission, vision and core values of the Gendarmerie, and the duties assigned to them, namely, maintaining security and order and law enforcement. He also stressed that the Gendarmerie accession to the Euro-Mediterranean Organization is in the interest of the Gendarmerie. He pointed out that the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie seeks to enhance the confidence of citizens in the Directorate through efficient crisis management and security operations, ensuring respect for human rights and integrity, impartiality and improving the level of security through preventive measures. At the end of the lecture, Lieutenant-General Dr. Tawfiq Tawalbeh answered the audience inquiries and exchanged commemorative shields with the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed.
