Al-Ahliyya Amman University honors top ranking high school students for the year 2014-2015 in the State of Kuwait
Al-Ahliyya Amman University, in collaboration with the branch of the Jordanian Engineers Association in the State of Kuwait, honored a group of top ranking students in the general secondary examination this year. In the ceremony, Dr. Sadiq Hamed, President of the University, tackled the deep relations between Jordan and Kuwait, which were established by His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein and His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Dr. Hamed also talked about the establishment and development of the University, which is the first Arab private university that evolved to be the leading Arab private university. He affirmed the tremendous and sincere efforts exerted by Dr. Ahmed Hourani to achieve remarkable development in the higher education sector in Jordan and the Arab world at large.Dr. Hamed stated the University houses more than 47 nationalities and that non-Jordanian students account for more than 52%, which is the highest percentage among Jordanian universities. The University is marked for its secure campus and safe environment, in addition to the good reputation of its graduates from various countries around the world. The University students scored the highest grades in the proficiency exam conducted by the Higher Education Accreditation Institutions of Jordan. Dr. Hamed noted that the number of Kuwaitis students in the University is approximately 400 students. He stated that about 1,200 Kuwaiti students have graduated from the University in the past few years. He highlighted the remarkable programs offered by the University, such as hearing and speech, electronic commerce, cinematic, theater and television design, as well as the Bachelor’s degree in Optics, and the Masters’ degree in Intelligent Transportation Systems, which are expected to be offered in beginning of the next academic year. Dr. Hamed addressed the University partnership with various outstanding academic bodies in the world in order to enhance the University academic level and keep abreast of the latest scientific developments. He stressed that all programs of the University have been certified by the Academic Programs Accreditation Commission at the Ministry of Higher Education of Kuwait. At the end of his speech, Dr. Hamed thanked the Prince of Kuwait, and the Kuwait government and people for their efforts in providing support for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He also thanked the members of the Cultural Office in Amman for their efforts in supporting the University. He further congratulated the outstanding students and their parents, and called them to invest this opportunity to achieve their goals and ambition in the service of the future of their nation. Other speeches were also delivered during the ceremony, including a speech by His Excellency the Jordanian ambassador in Kuwait, Mr. Mohammed Kayed, the cultural advisor in the Kuwaiti Embassy in Jordan, and the President of Jordan Engineers Association branch in Kuwait. As a whole, the speeches asserted the deep relations between Jordan and Kuwait and the efforts of the Kuwaiti and Jordanian leadership in supporting the nation's issues. They also congratulated the top performing students and praised the leading role of Al-Ahliyya Amman University in supporting higher education in Jordan and the Arab world. At the end of the ceremony, acknowledgement certificates and souvenirs were presented to the top ranking students.
