Al-Ahliyya Amman University Honors Top-Performing Kuwaiti Secondary School Students

Al-Ahliyya Amman University, in cooperation with the Jordanian Engineers Association -Kuwait Branch, held a ceremony in honor of Jordanian and Kuwaiti top-performing secondary school students and the sons of engineers. The ceremony was held in the presence of the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Kuwait, Mr. Mohammed Kayed, the Cultural Attache of the Embassy of the State of Kuwait, Dr. Mohammed Thufairi, and lawyer Mr. Khalid Abdul Jalil. This ceremony aims to enhance close links between the University and higher education institutions in the State of Kuwait represented by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education which seeks to improve the quality of university education and serve students between the two countries and other Arab countries. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, in his speech during the ceremony, congratulated the top-performing students, wishing them further progress and success. He highlighted the track record of the University, which dates back to 23 years ago. The University supports the Arab and international markets with more than 20 thousand qualified young people in more than 30 majors, he added. He noted that the University hosts over 73 Arab and foreign nationalities. Dr. Hamed said that the University features more than 30 bachelor s degree programs and 6 graduate programs, in addition to a joint program with Heriot-Watt University in Britain which confers Master s Degree in Business Administration in the two universities jointly, as well as other programs provided by the University. On his part, Dr. Thufairi praised Al-Ahliyya Amman University and said that it is the leading private university in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Kuwaiti students are enrolled in various science, engineering and humanitarian programs offered by the University, he noted. He added that Al-Ahliyya Amman University includes 225 students from Kuwait and provided Kuwait with large numbers of graduates. The lawyer and media figure Khaled Abdul Jalil stated that he changed his personal belief about the relationship between the Jordanian and Kuwaiti people. Mr. Abdul Jalil had a negative opinion in this respect which he announced on his show on Al-Watan TV. He noted that his opinion changed following the invitation he received from the cultural attaché to visit Jordan and meet the Kuwaiti students. After hearing from the students in Amman, he changed his negative belief and opinion and announced his mistake on the air. He said that the relationship between Jordanian and Kuwaiti people is like the sun and earth. At the end of his speech, he congratulated the outstanding students and wished them success. He praised the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University for his commendable efforts. At the end of the ceremony, the Jordanian Ambassador in Kuwait and the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University presented souvenirs to the highest ranked students and wished them a prosperous future to serve their home countries. They expressed their appreciation for the families of the students who supported their children to achieve excellence.
