Al-Ahliyya Amman University Holds an Interactive Lecture with Florence Nightingale College at Kings College London
In an effort to strengthen its relations and means of communications with international universities and share experiences with internationally distinguished nursing faculties, an interactive two-hour lecture was organized between the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and Florence Nightingale College of Nursing and Midwifery at King's College, London, at the invitation of Professor Jackie Bolton. Dr. Zainab Zahran, a former faculty member at the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, facilitated the cooperation between the two universities after returning to work as an associate professor at the Faculty of Nursing at King's College. From the Jordanian side, the meeting was organized by Dr. Rabia Allari, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Nursing for Accreditation and Quality at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, where the meeting was held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 remotely via Microsoft Teams. The aim of the meeting was to increase the knowledge of students at Nightingale Nursing College and to expand their knowledge of nursing specialization in Jordan through direct contact with nursing students at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Jordan. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Montaha Al Gharaibeh, who welcomed the students of Florence Nightingale College, followed by a rich presentation on the healthcare system in Jordan, the policies in the field of nursing and the conditions for joining nursing faculties in various disciplines. On the other hand, students Dina Khoury, Sadeen Munawer and Zaid Al Faouri conducted a distinguished presentation that introduced guest students to the specialization of nursing in Jordan and the nature of courses taught in addition to practical training procedures and the vocational practice exam. Students of the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University also gave an interesting presentation about Jordan, which impressed the guests, through which they learned about the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its geography, nature, customs and traditions, as well as the most prominent historical monuments and the nature of living in Jordan in general and the university life for students, especially at Al-Ahliyya Amman University. Furthermore, students of the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University answered all the questions asked by the guest students. The meeting was concluded with the students and supervisors at Florence Nightingale College thanking the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Montaha Al Gharaibeh, the students of the Faculty of Nursing and the organizers for their time and efforts to introduce them to a side that they were not aware of about Jordan, and an official appreciation letter was sent by students at Florence Nightingale College to the Jordanian side for their efforts to facilitate the meeting. The Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University hopes to continue to cooperate with King's College in London and similar international universities due to the added value of such meetings to the expertise of students in their field of specialization.
