Al-Ahliyya Amman University equips handicraft workshop for Rua’a Association for the Blind in Deir Alla
Under the auspices of the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Dr. Sadeq Hamed, the handicraft workshop of Rua’a Association for the Blind was inaugurated in the town of Deir Alla. The workshop which was equipped through Al-Ahliyya Amman University donation was inaugurated to serve the members of the Association who are visually impaired, by giving them the opportunity to work and engage in the production process in order to support themselves and their families and secure them a decent livelihood. Dr. Hamed delivered a speech in which he stated that Al-Ahliyya Amman University administration and students are pleased with the opening of this workshop, which represents an advanced sense of responsibility and performance of a humane and national duty towards a category that was deprived of the vision blessing, but was granted the grace of insight. The University staff and students exhibited unrivalled enthusiasm and competition to provide aid to the Association members, following the example of the generous Hashemite family, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, may God protect him. At the end of the meeting, the President of the University denoted the amount of JOD 2000 to the Association to help them carry out their duties toward their members. He also announced granting two full scholarships for blind students. For their part, the officers of the Association, through the speech delivered by the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Salem Al Minwir, expressed their happiness and overwhelming joy with the generous denotation provided by Al-Ahliyya Amman University. Mr. Minwir also presented the Association shield to the President of the University as a token of appreciation and gratitude. The celebration ceremony was attended by a number of officials of government and private departments and residents of Deir Alla town.
