Al-Ahliyya Amman University celebrates inaugurating the Department of Business and E-Commerce

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences organized the inauguration ceremony of the Department of Business and E-Commerce in Hourani e-Learning Centre Auditorium, in the presence of a group of corporate sponsors of the ceremony.Dr. Asim Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences, during his speech at the ceremony, expressed the University pleasure with offering the business and e-commerce program in the Faculty. This program is a quality addition to the other programs offered by the Faculty. It meets the need to provide specialists in this vital area, and keeps pace with the great development created by the internet in the field of business and e-commerce, he noted. Dr. Sheikh added that the University has signed an agreement with SAP Company, one of the specialized companies in the production of information systems in the field of business and e-commerce. This will enhance the chances of the graduates’ success in the future and create better employment opportunities. The Faculty continues its development process through its bachelor's and master's programs. As far as MA programs are concerned, the joint program with the University of Heriot Watt has achieved continuous success and the fruitful cooperation with the University of Heriot Watt will continue. The University intends to develop a new MA program in the field of human resources management. As regards BA programs, programs have been developed and new versions of these programs will be offered in the beginning of the next academic year. The new versions have been compared to the programs offered by the best universities in the world. The new programs will include certified professional fellowships in each discipline, so that graduates will be able to sit for the various fellowship exams in the respective fields.Dr. Anas Ratib Saud, Head of Business and e-Commerce Department, added that this Department was founded at the beginning of the academic year 2013/2014, and it aims to connect the administrative, commercial and financial sciences with information technology. Information technology has experienced a knowledge evolution since the beginning of the present century, which exceeded all expectations, plans, and programs. Business and e-commerce is a discipline that is concerned with the application of information technology to support administrative and financial business. The business and e-commerce program combines integrated parts of information technology, including information systems, databases, Internet technology, management and protection of computer networks (which includes a content that meets the requirements of Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician “CCENT”). Dr. Saud added that as regards business and e-commerce as a stand-alone science, the undergraduate program in business and e-commerce is characterized by true partnership with SAP, which will provide the opportunity for the Program students to learn and train on the various SAP software and applications.A group of companies took part in the inauguration ceremony, in which they showcased their products. These companies include Marka VIP, STS, Pioneers Academy, EastNets and other companies. The events were held in the presence of AAU deans of faculties, students of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences, and the tenth grade students of Bunat Al-Ghad School. The school female students proposed questions regarding the new program. At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Sadeq Hamid presented memorial shields to the corporate sponsors, which contributed to the inauguration ceremony.
