Al Ahliyya Amman University and University of Jordan Opens the Seventh Conference on talent and excellence research in the Arab world in to support national strategy for the Fourth Industrial Revolution
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research H.E. Dr. Adel Al Tweisi said that the Ministry strives to meet the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in implementation of the national strategy for the human resources development. Furthermore, Al Tweisi, as a Representative of the Prime Minister, underlined during the opening of the Seventh Conference on Giftedness and Talented in the Arab World? on Tuesday, July 24 2018 at the University of Jordan, explained that the intelligence is one of the major pillars of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. On his part, Al Tweisi outlined that the Ministry works arduously in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor, to implement the national strategy for the development of human resources, given the consequences for the sustainable development in Jordan. In this sense, he pointed out that the name of the Scientific Research Support Fund has been changed to the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund, as it will focus on innovation in the next stage. This can be achieved only with the artificial intelligence technology. The Fund will minimize the number of scientific magazines in the universities to 23, aiming at focusing on the qualitative rather than quantitative data. In response, the Minister stated that the national strategy contains critical items and objectives, most prominently, the development of the faculty members' skills in the universities, along with the teachers serving in the Ministry of Education, through providing incentives, and supporting the efforts of educational institutions interested in establishing science-based incubators scientific and business accelerators. In a similar vein, the Minister pointed out that the Ministry consistently strives to ensure the transition from education to learning, in accordance with the recommendations of the national strategy for human resource development. In Pursuance of this, the Ministry has established the National Center of e-Learning, and launched open educational platforms, indicating that this step is a key pillar of the transition from education to learning. The conference, organized by the International Youth Organization for Environment and ?Development in its seventh edition, in cooperation with the University of Jordan and the AAU under the theme Intelligence in the Knowledge Society, strives to increase the educational opportunities and to create more equitable society. On his part, the President of the AAU, Dr. Sari Hamdan placed great emphasis on the conference, which proceeds along the path of progress and finds solutions to the challenges facing the knowledge, creativity and excellence in the different educational stages of schools and universities. Lastly, the President of the AAU discussed the pillars of the educational system, particularly the preparation of teachers who are able to develop intelligence, and the admission of students in the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the teachers' training colleges, based on intelligence, thereby ensuring healthy school environment in which the individuals of society are able to develop their outstanding potential. In this respect, Dr. Sari Hamdan indicated that the AAU has established the Learning and Education Center, aiming at holding training courses, and developing the skills of teachers from inside and outside Jordan. During the 2-day Conference, the participants will discuss ten working papers in the area of cognitive intelligence.
