Al-Ahliyya Amman University Achieves the Largest Advancement Among Jordanian Universities in the QS World University Rankings 2027

Al-Ahliyya Amman University has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by recording the largest annual advancement among Jordanian universities in the recently released QS World University Rankings 2027. The University climbed 123 places to reach 643rd globally, ranking first among Jordan’s private universities and third among all Jordanian public and private universities. This advancement, representing the largest leap achieved by any Jordanian university in the current edition of the rankings, marks a significant milestone in the journey of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the first private university in Jordan. It reflects the success of the University’s institutional strategy, which is built upon academic excellence, the advancement of scientific research, the expansion of international partnerships, and the continuous enhancement of educational outcomes in line with labor market needs and global standards. Dr. Maher Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated that this achievement embodies the strategic vision upon which Al-Ahliyya Amman University was founded, emphasizing investment in quality education, scientific research, and meaningful international partnerships. He noted that this accomplishment reflects the success of the University’s approach to developing its academic and research programs in accordance with international best practices and standards. He added that this advancement serves as a strong motivation to continue striving for even higher levels of academic excellence and leadership, affirming that the University remains committed to implementing its development plans to further strengthen its position among distinguished regional and international universities, benefiting its students, graduates, and Jordanian society as a whole. For his part, Mr. Omar Hourani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated that this significant achievement is the result of sustained investment in human capital, scientific research, and modern infrastructure. He emphasized the University’s continued commitment to providing the resources necessary to support its ongoing growth and advancement in international rankings. He added that the University will continue enhancing its educational and research environment, expanding international partnerships, and attracting distinguished academic talent to prepare graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, creativity, and innovative capacity needed to compete successfully in local, regional, and global labor markets. Professor Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, described the achievement as a source of pride for both the University and Jordan’s higher education sector. He emphasized that the University’s substantial progress is the result of sustained efforts and integrated institutional work involving faculty members, administrative staff, students, and alumni. He further noted that leading Jordan’s private universities and securing third place nationally reflects the success of the University’s commitment to quality and excellence and demonstrates its growing reputation at both the regional and international levels. Professor Hamdan highlighted the University’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, strengthen its research ecosystem, and expand international academic cooperation in line with its vision and mission of preparing qualified graduates capable of innovation and global competitiveness. This advancement can be attributed to notable improvements in several key indicators used by the QS Rankings, particularly academic reputation, research impact and citations, internationalization and global collaboration, and graduate employability. The University’s rapid growth in scientific research output, expansion of international academic partnerships, and continued investment in educational and research infrastructure have also significantly strengthened its global competitiveness. Professor Ahmad Samad Al-Adwan, Dean of Scientific Research, stated that the new results reflect the University’s progress in research performance, particularly through improvements in the citations-per-faculty indicator and substantial gains in the international research network indicator. He explained that these improvements are the result of University policies that support publication in prestigious scientific journals, encourage impactful research and knowledge dissemination, and expand collaboration with international universities and research centers, thereby increasing the visibility, reach, and global impact of the University’s research. Meanwhile, Engineer Ahmad Omar Hourani, Director of the Marketing and International Rankings Unit, explained that this achievement is the outcome of a systematic institutional approach based on analyzing international ranking indicators and continuously improving performance across all areas. He affirmed that the University continues to implement clear strategic plans aimed at achieving even greater progress in future ranking cycles. He added that the University’s remarkable leap demonstrates the success of its data-driven approach to continuous improvement and its commitment to strengthening its academic and research presence on the international stage. He also noted that new initiatives are currently being implemented to further enhance the University’s performance across global indicators. This achievement underscores the advanced position that Al-Ahliyya Amman University now occupies on the higher education landscape at the local, regional, and international levels. It reflects the success of its vision in combining academic quality, scientific research, and international engagement, thereby reinforcing its role in supporting the advancement of Jordanian higher education and strengthening Jordan’s position as a regional hub for academic and intellectual excellence.
