Agricultural Technology at Al-Ahliyya Amman University Participates in the Smart Agriculture Conference in Tunisia

As part of the Arab Alliances for Scientific Research and Innovation initiative under the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, the University of Gabes in Tunisia hosted researchers from several Arab countries (Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Jordan), along with scientists from the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom, to serve as coordinators in the first conference of the project on utilizing controlled-environment agriculture to enhance food security and produce pharmaceutical plants in the Arab region. The Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, represented by its Dean, Dr. Subhiyeh Saifan, participated in the conference with an informative lecture titled: "Al-Ahliyya Amman University: Capabilities and Aspirations in Scientific, Agricultural Research, and Innovation." The lecture highlighted the university's overall potential and the Faculty of Agricultural Technology's specific efforts in integrating climate-controlled agriculture for food security. Achievements in the faculty's tissue culture labs and the smart agricultural greenhouse, featuring advanced soilless farming systems, were also showcased. On the sidelines of the conference, discussions focused on research collaborations and applied projects contributing to the technological agricultural renaissance in the Arab region. Additionally, the establishment of a program for student and faculty exchanges among the participating universities was also deliberated.
