Academic Cooperation between AAU and Chicago University and Announcing the Opening of the First Teaching and Learning Center in Jordan.

Under the patronage of Professor Bashir Al Zu'bi, Chairman of the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission in Jordan, AAU held a workshop on teaching and learning. The event was attended by the AAU President, Dr. Sadek Hamed, his deputy and his assistants. This event which was held on 12/5/2018 hosted Dr. William Rando, the International Lecturer and CEO of Teaching and Learning Center in Chicago University- USA. At the begining, Professor Elayyan Qreinawi introduced the symposium. Then, Professor Basheer Zoubi delivered a speech in which he commended AAU for taking this significant step of launching the Teaching and Learning Center in cooperation with the Chicago University. He indicated that the Higher Education institutions commission is working to develop a national qualifications framework. Also, he emphasized the importance of complementarity of knowledge, experience and efficiency. Zoubi indicated that there are two million school students and 315 thousand university and training institutions students in Jordan. Such students need improvement in teaching and learning and he thanked the University for taking this initiative. Next, Dr. Husam Kokash presented the plan of Teaching and Learning Center, its goals, mechanisms, professional plan and its expected impact on the quality and education. He assured that Teaching and Learning Center which will be launched in Al-Ahliyya Amman University will be the first of its kind in Jordan. Then, Professor Elyaan Qraini presented gave a briefing about the C.V of Professor William Rando and his rich academic experience in various US universities. Professor William Rando talked about Teaching and Learning Center which aims to improve the methods of teaching and to cope with modernity. He added that there must be modern interactive methods between the teachers and students, he talked about the positive impacts of having such a center in Jordan and provided practical examples through his interaction with the audience. The workshop was attended by academic and administrative staffs, in addition to some private and international school principals. It is worthy to note that announcing the launching of the Teaching and Learning Center in Al-Ahliyya Amman University stems from cooperation and coordination between Chicago University and Al-Ahliyya Amman University. Such relations will include further cooperation in other academic and scientific research aspects. The Center will be monitored and directed by Chicago University via Dr. William.
