AAU Welcomes Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy

Professor Anas Al-Soud, Vice President for International Relations and Quality Affairs at our AAU, welcomed Ms. Shi Wei, the Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Amman, in a significant visit aimed at fostering bilateral cultural ties. The visit included Mr. Ahmed Masleh Al-Aqrabawi, Assistant Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Amman, Ms. Lin Zhu, Chinese language teacher, Professor Hanan Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Maha Yaseen, Vice Dean. During the visit, Professor Anas Al-Soud provided an overview of AAU, highlighting the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its pride in the growing academic and cultural collaboration with China. Discussions centered on expanding cooperation through student and faculty exchanges, and the development of Chinese language programs. Plans were outlined for the introduction of a dual Bachelor's degree program in Chinese and English, scheduled to commence in the academic year 2024/2025. Professor Hanan Ibrahim led the delegation on a tour of AAU’s facilities, showcasing cultural venues, the arena, and the Faculty of Culinary Arts and Hospitality. The tour underscored AAU's advanced infrastructure and its dedication to providing enriching educational experiences for its students. At the conclusion of the visit, Ms. Shi Wei was honored with a commemorative shield in appreciation of her visit and her role in enhancing cultural relations between the two countries. Ms. Shi Wei expressed her deep gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in various academic and cultural fields. The visit marked another milestone in the ongoing efforts of AAU to enhance global partnerships and enrich its educational offerings through international collaboration.
