AAU Signs Five Cooperation Agreements with Leading Turkish Universities
A delegation from the Turkish Higher Education Council visited AAU on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The delegation was led by the Vice President of the Council, Dr. Hussein Karaman, along with the presidents of five major Turkish universities: Marmara University, Ankara University, Istanbul Technical University, Hacettepe University, and Gazi University. This visit occurred alongside an official visit by the Turkish Higher Education Council, following an invitation from the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Tourism Promotion Authority. This collaboration is part of an executive plan aimed at attracting foreign students to study in Jordanian higher education institutions from 2023 to 2027.
Professor Sari Hamdan, the University President, warmly welcomed the Turkish delegation in the presence of Professor Anas Al-Soud, the Vice President of the University for International Relations and Quality Affairs. Professor Hamdan expressed his appreciation for the historical relations between Jordan and Turkey and his delight at hosting the delegation, especially on the significant occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein's Silver Jubilee. He affirmed AAU's commitment to enhancing cooperation with esteemed Turkish universities.
Dr. Hussein Karaman, the head of the Turkish delegation, highlighted the purpose of the visit: to strengthen partnerships with leading Jordanian universities, including AAU, the first private university in Jordan. He emphasized the Turkish Higher Education Council's eagerness to enhance cooperation with AAU, particularly in programs such as Turkish and Arabic language courses for non-native speakers, responding to the growing interest of Turkish students in studying in Jordan.
During the visit, cooperation agreements were signed with the five Turkish universities in attendance, underscoring the importance of collaboration in joint programs, student exchanges, and interdisciplinary research.
Professor Anas Al-Soud guided the Turkish delegation on a tour of AAU's facilities, providing insights into the university's preparedness and distinctive features.
