AAU Participates in the Second Balqa’a International Engineering Conference (BIEC 2019)
AAU participated in the Second Balqa’a International Engineering Conference (BIEC 2019) which was held from 3/12/2019 to 5 / 12/2019 in the Dead Sea area. This conference was attended by the AAU President Representative, Prof. Bassam Mahasneh and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, along with Dr. Saba Nusseirat, the Head of the Department of Architecture and a member of the preparatory committee of this conference. Members from the AAU Faculty of Architecture & Design and the Faculty of Engineering also took part in this event. On the side line of the Conference, an exhibition was held where a group of AAU students from the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Architecture & Design participated through presenting their engineering projects. It is worth mentioning that, the Balqa’a Conference was held under the auspices of the Prime Minister, Dr. Omar Al-Razzaz and was attended by local and regional engineering companies and universities specialized in various engineering fields. The conference dealt with innovative solutions and effective means that contribute to encountering the current challenges and future opportunities for various issues related to the engineering sector in Jordan. Sustainability, innovation and leadership were the three main focal themes that were presented and discussed throughout the three days of the conference. Collectively, these themes constituted the main pillars for developing and advancing the engineering sector level in line with the requirements of competition and economic growth.Dr. Saba Al-Nuseirat presented a research paper on the sustainability and sustainable planning titled “An Approach to Enhance Energy Saving and Thermal Comfort in High-rise Buildings Using Ventilated Sky Court” on Wednesday, 4/12/2019. AAU students of the Department of Architecture also took part in this event by exhibiting their design works in the conference hall where they presented different works per each day of the conference period to benefit all students.
