AAU Participates in the Meeting of Establishing the Center of Excellence in Library Services
The AAU President Prof Sari Hamdan, along with the presidents of eight private Jordanian universities, participated in a meeting to establish “the Center of Excellence in Library Services for Private Jordanian Universities” at Princess Sumaya University.According to a press release this initiative aims to share the available knowledge, confront the ongoing challenges and changes in the world of libraries; provide a supportive environment for the scientific research movement and to increase access to information.The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Mashhoor Al-Rifai highlighted the importance of this establishment and cooperation, which is the first of its kind at the level of private universities in the Arab world and region. He also pointed out the importance of establishing the center in order to strengthen the framework of cooperation among the participating universities and to achieve partnership, in addition to rationalizing expenses.On his part, the Head of the Department of Technical Services at Al-Hasan Library of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Dr. Shadi Hamidat, gave a detailed presentation on the added value of establishing the center and its intended benefits.It is worth mentioning that the instructions for establishing the center have been drawn up and they are expected to be approved, then to be announced and launched duly whereby its membership will be available to various private universities in addition to the founding universities, namely: Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Philadelphia University, Isra University, Irbid University, Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Middle East University, The World Islamic Sciences University and Aqaba University of Technology.
