AAU Participates in the 7th International Educational Exhibition in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq

Our AAU participated in the 7th International Educational Exhibition, focusing on educational tourism, held in collaboration between the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Jordanian Consulate General in Erbil. The event took place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq, and lasted for two days. The exhibition was inaugurated under the patronage of the Governor of Erbil, alongside Fouad Al-Majali, the Jordanian Consul General in Erbil, who toured the booths of the participating Jordanian universities. In addition to the Ministry of Higher Education, twenty-two official and private Jordanian universities took part in this exhibition. Dr. Azmi Mohafazah, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the importance of Jordanian universities' participation in such exhibitions. He stressed the need for universities to market themselves and the distinctive programs they offer, which align with contemporary needs and address regional and global job market demands. He highlighted the excellent reputation of the Jordanian higher education sector, which has produced thousands of international students who have demonstrated their excellence in their home countries' job markets. He urged continued efforts to attract more international students to study at Jordanian higher education institutions. For his part, Dr. Mamoun Al-Dab'i, Secretary General of the Ministry and Chairman of the Committee for Attracting International Students in the Higher Education Council, stated that Jordan’s participation in this exhibition is part of the Executive Plan for the International Student Recruitment Strategy for the years 2023-2027. This strategy, prepared by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in coordination with its strategic partner, the Jordan Tourism Board, and recently approved by the Cabinet, aims to enhance educational tourism in the Kingdom and increase the recruitment of international students to Jordanian higher education institutions. He also noted that the ministry and Jordanian universities will participate in several other exhibitions to be held in various countries throughout 2024.
