AAU Participates in Organizing the 11th Jordanian Optometry Conference

Al-Ahliyya Amman University participated in organizing the activities of the 11th Jordanian Optometry Conference, which was held in the Dead Sea region in cooperation with the Jordanian Optometrists Association and the Jordanian Optical Centers Owners Syndicate, alongside several local and regional academic and medical institutions, with broad participation from experts, professionals, and students. The university contributed to sponsoring the conference through Professor Ghaleb Uraikat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, who delivered the university’s speech during the opening ceremony. In his remarks, he conveyed the greetings of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, who consistently supports the advancement of science and knowledge and strongly believes in the role of universities in promoting scientific research, innovation, and shaping the future. Professor Uraikat also conveyed the greetings of the University President, Professor Sari Hamdan, who is committed to maintaining Al-Ahliyya Amman University as a platform for academic excellence and a supportive environment for scientific conferences that contribute to the exchange of knowledge and expertise while serving health professions and the local community. Professor Ghaleb Uraikat emphasized the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences’ pride in the achievements of the Optometry program at the university, noting that it is the first program of its kind among Jordanian private universities. He also praised the efforts of Professor Yazan Qamouh, Head of the Department of Optometry, in strengthening community partnerships and enhancing collaboration between the department and local community institutions. He further highlighted the role played by the Jordanian Optical Centers Owners Syndicate during the establishment phase of the department through consultations with employers and the opening of communication channels with students interested in academic bridging programs. In addition, he acknowledged the contribution of the Jordanian Optometrists Association through the cooperation agreement signed with the Department of Optometry, which has helped attract students, provide training opportunities, and organize scientific activities, including this conference. Several administrative staff members from the Department of Optometry also participated in the conference’s organizing and reception committees, contributing to presenting the event in a highly professional manner. Meanwhile, Dr. Bahaa Al-Din Jabr, a faculty member in the department, delivered a series of specialized workshops and scientific lectures addressing topics related to the role of optometry in serving the local community.
