AAU Participates in Accreditation Workshop and Medical Analysis Conference

The faculties of Allied Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Engineering at AAU participated in a workshop titled "Quality Evaluator for Higher Education Institutions," organized by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions. Representatives included Dr. Zeina Mahdi Al-Alami from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Dr. Firas Al-Naimat from the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Mohammad Yaseen from the Faculty of Pharmacy. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Saad Bani Mohammad, Deputy Head of the Commission, who emphasized the Commission's role in evaluating the quality of higher education institutions in Jordan. Dr. Bani Mohammad highlighted the importance of such workshops in preparing participants as institutional and programmatic quality evaluators, promoting a culture of quality in academic institutions, and achieving global competitiveness. He also stressed the need to increase the number of certified evaluators for the Commission. The workshop covered the Commission's experience in evaluating quality assurance standards, the workings of expert committees, report writing, and practical applications to enhance institutional performance in quality assurance. It was facilitated by Dr. Amal Al-Tarawneh, a renowned local and international expert in quality assurance and excellence, along with Mrs. Soum Abu Talib and Mrs. Suad Al-Najjar. After two days of sessions, participants were awarded certificates as "Quality Evaluators for Higher Education Institutions." The Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at the university also took part in the ICMLH 2024, hosted by Zarqa University from November 20–22, 2024. Dr. Walehan Al-Shaer from the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences delivered a lecture titled "Aptamers and siRNA Therapy Against Cancer," exploring promising applications of aptamers and small interfering RNA in cancer treatment. Additionally, Lecturer Hamzah Al-Ameer from the Biotechnology Department presented on "Targeting Cancer Cell Proliferation Using siRNAs," focusing on silencing overexpressed genes in cancer cells and enhancing chemotherapy effectiveness. Both presentations garnered significant interest and facilitated scientific discussions and collaborations. The conference also saw active participation from students across various disciplines in the faculty, reflecting the university's commitment to fostering scientific engagement and advancing students' academic research skills.
