AAU Organizes Awareness Event "Be Well" Against Cancer

The Deanship of Student Affairs and the AAU Youth Against Cancer Club, in collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, organized an awareness event titled "Be Well" last Wednesday. At the beginning of the event, Dr. Anas Abed, from the Faculty of Pharmacy and advisor to the Youth Against Cancer Club, welcomed the guests and attendees, emphasizing that such activities reflect the university's commitment to fostering collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation. Ms. Maram Al-Balawi, a lecturer representing the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, stressed the importance of early detection of cancer to ensure timely diagnosis and prevent potential health complications. She noted that such events also play a key role in raising medical awareness among community members, aiming to achieve the highest standards of public health and safety. Al-Balawi also addressed mental health, highlighting the stigma surrounding it and the importance of psychological support for individuals facing mental health challenges. She emphasized the need to focus on this aspect of health to achieve overall well-being. At the conclusion of the event, the King Hussein Cancer Foundation was honored with a university shield, presented by Dr. Nour Al-Dabbas, Vice Dean of Student Affairs. The shield was received on behalf of the foundation by Ms. Riham Al-Aker in recognition of their efforts in supporting such periodic activities. In return, the foundation presented the university with the "Jordan Against Cancer" shield in appreciation of its support for the foundation's programs. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to several contributors, including the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by Mr. Mohammed Al-Louzi, Head of the Activities and Student Clubs Department. The Youth Against Cancer Club was also recognized, represented by Dr. Anas Abed and student Bana Al-Saafin, the club president. The event included a series of awareness games presented by media personality Haitham Al-Baroudi, which engaged students in activities aimed at promoting mental health awareness.
