AAU Offers Scholarships to the Outstanding Student Players of the Olympic Preparation Program
AAU and the Jordanian Olympic Committee signed a cooperation agreement that provides scholarships to distinguished students who are players of the Olympic Preparation Program.. The AAU President, Prof. Sari Hamdan and the Secretary General of the Olympic Committee, Mr. Naser Al-Majali signed the agreement on Monday, 1/7/2019. This event was attended by the Chairman of the AAU Board of Directors Dr. Maher Al-Hourani and Mrs. Inas Al-Hourani, the Director of the AAU Public & International Relations Department. In his speech, Prof. Sari Hamdan stressed the importance of supporting the distinguished Jordanian players to obtain the best achievements in various competitions. He said that the AAU is keen on supporting the distinguished Jordanian youth, thus, the University administration decided to provide scholarships for outstanding students of the Olympic preparation program. Prof. Hamdan also said that the efforts made by these players and their sacrifices made by them to raise the Jordanian flag in regional and international championships are well known to us. On his part, the Secretary General of the Olympic Committee Mr. Nasser Al-Majali praised this initiative; stressed the need to support the players of our national teams; stand by them always and provide educational care for them. He added: “we are proud of this agreement and the great step of AAU in providing annual scholarships to a number of distinguished players in the academic and sports fields.” Then he added: “Such scholarships give players a sense of security and comfort about their future away from sports. This would help them to fully concentrate on sports and to reap achievements for the homeland. Meanwhile, the AAU administration honored three of the beneficiaries of this scholarship, namely the stars of our National Team of Taekwondo, Ahmed Abu Ghosh, Saleh Al-Sharabati and Zaid Al-Halawani in recognition of their achievements in the last period and for winning the first place cup in the Jordanian universities championship.
