AAU Law Students Conduct Scientific Visit to the Jordanian House of Representatives

The Faculty of Law at Al-Ahliyya Amman University organized a scientific visit to the Jordanian House of Representatives, with the participation of faculty members and a group of students, as part of its efforts to strengthen the practical dimension of legal education and connect academic learning with real-world practice. The delegation was received by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, His Excellency Mr. Mazen Al-Qadi, who welcomed the visit and emphasized the importance of engagement between academic institutions and constitutional state bodies. He noted that such initiatives contribute to preparing an informed generation with a solid understanding of legislative and decision-making processes in Jordan, while also fostering legal awareness and active citizenship among young people. The visit was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Professor Sari Hamdan, President of the University, and Professor Osayd Dhnibat, Dean of the Faculty of Law. It aimed to provide students with direct exposure to legislative processes and enhance their legal awareness. The program began with an introductory tour of the Parliament’s facilities, where students learned about the structure and functioning of the legislative authority, including the role of parliamentary committees in reviewing and discussing draft laws prior to their presentation in plenary sessions. They were also introduced to the constitutional procedures governing the legislative process at its various stages. Students also attended part of a legislative session, where they observed parliamentary discussions, session management, and voting procedures on draft laws, gaining practical insight into the legislative and oversight roles of Parliament. The visit concluded with a dialogue session with several Members of Parliament, during which students engaged in interactive discussions, asked questions, and explored legal and legislative issues, as well as challenges facing parliamentary work. The session also addressed Parliament’s role in developing legislation and keeping pace with political and economic developments.
