AAU in Cooperation with the Umniah’s Cyber Security Academy, Holds Training Courses for Students on Information Security

Within the framework of the plans aimed at spreading awareness and education of the electronic threat dangers and their negative effects on the national economy and the business environment in the Kingdom, the AAU Consultations & Continuing Education Center, in cooperation with the Umniah’s Cyber Security Academy, held an introductory training course on information security. This training course is divided into eight lectures by two hours for each lecture and is followed by an exam that measures the students’ development. At the end of this course, the trainee obtains a certificate from Umniah’s Cyber Security Academy. The Chairman of the AAU Board of Directors, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, affirmed the depth of the partnership that links Al-Ahliyya Amman University with the Umniah Company, the leader in the field of Cyber Security. He also clarified that holding training courses for university students comes within the framework of developing their experiences and capabilities in a way that contributes to supplying the Jordanian labor market with qualified and efficient experiences in specializations that are not yet saturated. Dr. Al-Hourani emphasized the importance of Cyber Security and Information Security nowadays, especially after the emergence of the fourth industrial revolution, or what is known as the data revolution, which needs protection and security from any kind of electronic threats. These training courses deal with different topics about Cyber Security as well as an introduction to Information Security and the most important plans and procedures that the Umniah’s Security Operations Center (SOC) undertakes to help companies protect their information. It is worth mentioning that Umniah Company occupies an advanced position in the Jordanian market in the field of Cyber Security, as the Company harnessed all its experiences and competencies to establish an academy specialized in Cyber Security, in 2019. This academy aims to enhance and develop the skills of individuals in the field of information security and thus support the efforts exerted in addressing any risks, electronic threats or piracy operations in addition to confronting any security challenges in the field of Information Systems and reducing them. This academy is based on preparing university students, new graduates and members of various institutions, building their capabilities and enhancing their skills to be able to join the labor market. This can be achieved by holding training courses and lectures related to Cyber Security and Information Security in addition to raising the level of knowledge about electronic threats and their risks.Commenting on these training courses, the Umniah Executive Chairman, Mr. Ziad Shatara expressed his pride in the advanced position and good reputation that the Company enjoys as the most reliable telecommunications operator in the Jordanian market. He also praised its distinguished role in the national economy and its activities and operations at various levels, including raising awareness in the field of Cyber Security, due to the great competencies and specialized experiences it enjoys.
