AAU Hosts the University Taekwondo Championship, Crowns Winners, and Secures First Place (Female Category) and Runner-Up Position (Male Category)
The University Taekwondo Championship concluded at Al-Ahliyya Amman University. The championship was organized by the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation in cooperation with the Jordan Taekwondo Federation, under the patronage of Professor Sari Hamdan, President of the university, and witnessed wide participation from students representing Jordanian universities.
Professor Sari Hamdan, President of the University, and Professor Mustafa Al-Atiyyat, Dean of Student Affairs, crowned the winners of the top positions in the presence of Dr. Hazem Al-Nsour, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation and Dean of Student Affairs at Middle East University, as well as Professor Khalaf Khatatneh, Dean of Student Affairs at Al-Balqa Applied University. The event received praise for its distinguished technical level and excellent organization, highlighting the leading role of Al-Ahliyya Amman University in supporting sports activities and hosting major university events.
The female team of Al-Ahliyya Amman University secured first place overall in the championship after winning three medals. The gold medal was awarded to student Layan Mahmoud Hamza from the Faculty of Business, majoring in Business Analytics Technology, in the under-49 kg category. Another gold medal was won by student Joud Mohammad Abu Al-Dhahab from the Faculty of Architecture and Design, majoring in Interior Design, in the under-53 kg category. The bronze medal was claimed by student Joud Amin Harb from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Chinese and English Languages, in the under-57 kg category.
The male team also achieved second place overall with a total of three gold medals. The first gold medal was won by student Mahmoud Bassam Yousef from the Faculty of Business, majoring in E-Marketing and Digital Communication, in the under-63 kg category. The second gold medal was awarded to student Mahmoud Ibrahim Al-Tarawneh from the Faculty of Educational Sciences, majoring in Physical and Health Education, in the under-68 kg category. The third gold medal was secured by student Zaid Mustafa Abdul Karim from the Graduate Studies Faculty, majoring in Sports Sciences, in the under-74 kg category.
These consecutive achievements by Al-Ahliyya Amman University come as a result of the continuous support provided to student athletes by Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Professor Sari Hamdan, President of the University, and Professor Mustafa Al-Ayyat, Dean of Student Affairs, with direct follow-up from the university’s sports activity supervisors, Captain Suhaib Al-Tarawneh and Captain Janan Mahmoud.
The championship witnessed strong competition and distinguished technical performances that reflected the readiness and high sportsmanship of the participants, all within an enthusiastic atmosphere and outstanding organization that contributed to the success of the sporting event.
The championship also emphasized the importance of promoting university sports activities and reinforcing the values of fair competition, discipline, and teamwork among students, in addition to discovering athletic talents and developing their abilities.
